Paul Goff founded SBS in 1994 with the goal of building a distinctly customer-focused freight forwarding business. Working in several roles within the shipping and logistics industry, he experienced first-hand the frustration of working with “partners” that cared more about their business than his. Two decades later, the story of SBS remains the story of our customers’ success.
SBS began with specialized domestic airfreight and surface transportation services for a niche group of customers. As those customers’ businesses grew and developed a global reach in the late 1990s, SBS naturally grew with them—expanding relationships and services to include international import/export, air freight, ocean transport, U.S. customs brokerage services and warehousing. SBS continued to expand and enhance our portfolio to bring customers an integrated, seamless supply chain to and from any location worldwide—from a single, reliable partner with leading technology that provides 100% visibility throughout.
Today, SBS is a single-source, asset-based provider of end-to-end international shipping and logistics solutions. Though we’ve grown into a global company with locations worldwide, we remain privately held and debt-free—enabling us to continue investing in our customer-first approach. Our longstanding customer relationships reflect that unique customer commitment—including a thriving, 20-year partnership with our very first customer.
